What is a product configurator?
A product configurator is a tool that lets customers build a product step by step on the page themselves. On standard e-commerce sites, the customer picks a ready-made variant: red, size L. With a configurator, the customer builds the product: body color, sleeve color, the name on the chest, the number on the back, logo position, size breakdown.
KitBuilder is the IMFLEXI module developed for exactly this. It was first designed for sports jerseys and team kits; today it can be adapted to any product group that is made to order. On most hosted e-commerce platforms, this capability either doesn't exist at all or is offered in a limited way through a separate, expensive plugin.
The flow on the customer side
- The customer selects the product type and the collection.
- They set colors, patterns and parts visually; choices appear on screen instantly.
- For team orders, they enter the player list: name, number and size on each line.
- They review the design and add it to the cart.
The customer doesn't have to explain over the phone that they want "a slightly darker shade of that color, and our logo on the left chest." They see what they want on screen and approve it.
The flow on the production side
With custom products, the real challenge is getting the order into production without errors. In KitBuilder, every order is saved as structured data:
- Selected color codes, size codes and parts
- Player list (name, number, size)
- An image of every side of the product
- PDF and Excel output for production
Your production team works directly from this output. Errors such as a misread color, a missing name or a reversed number drop sharply. And because products are made to order rather than from stock, leftover inventory and waste go down too.

Frequently asked questions
Can you adapt KitBuilder to our own products?
Yes. Product types, color and size codes, option groups and images are defined according to your product structure. If a completely different setup is needed, we scope it as a project in the preliminary analysis.
Can customers save their design and continue later?
The design is saved as soon as it is added to the cart; when customers log in to their account, they can see their orders and selections.
Can a list be uploaded via Excel for bulk team orders?
The player list is entered on screen; if you need bulk upload, we evaluate it during setup.
