What is isimlik.app?
isimlik.app is a discovery app for people looking for a baby name. Its opening line sums up the idea: "When looking for a baby name, consider the sound, the origin and the feeling together." Instead of long lists, names arrive one at a time as cards; each card shows the name's gender, origin and meaning. The database holds 9,720 names (September 2026). The interface is in Turkish.

What's on the site?
- Name cards: each card shows the name, gender (girl, boy, unisex), origin and meaning, plus pronunciation where available.
- Swiping: swipe right to like, left to pass. The same actions are available as buttons: like, pass, favorite, share, undo.
- Search and filters: search by name, filter by gender and origin. Origins include Turkish, Arabic, Persian, Mongolian, Hebrew, French and Greek.
- Seven sort options: Discover, Popular, Short, Phonetic, A-Z, Z-A and Random.
- Favorites list: liked names are collected in a list that can be shared via a link.
- Name pages: every name has its own URL (such as
/isim/aycan) and its own share image.
Highlights
Cards, not lists
Choosing a name is often something couples do together, over days. The card layout gives each name room to be considered on its own, and the swipe gesture keeps the decision quick and effortless. New cards load from the API as you go, and the undo button fixes an accidental swipe.
Ready to share
On phones, the share button opens the device's native share menu; on desktop it copies the link to the clipboard. When a name is shared, social media shows a 1200×630 image generated for that specific name. The favorites list has a shareable link too.
