What is ArenaSim?

ArenaSim is a football simulation played in a circular arena. It uses the real squads of Europe's leading clubs, and the match engine is tuned against real football statistics. You pair two teams, pick the formations and watch the match. In the site's own words (translated): "Watch a match like a coin toss. Nobody knows who will win — not even you."

ArenaSim is a hobby project developed by Emre Yakut, one of Globya's co-founders. You can set up and watch a match at arenasim.com.

Starting point

Football is one of the most statistics-heavy fields there is. ArenaSim asks a simple question: what results does an engine fed with real data produce in a circular arena instead of the familiar rectangular pitch? For us, the project is a testing ground for real-time simulation, generating large volumes of data and turning that data automatically into readable content.

What's on the site?

  • Home page: a set-up-a-match button, a live stats panel showing total matches, goals per match, and club and player counts, plus the "match of the day."
  • Extremes of the last 24 hours: the highest-scoring match, the biggest win, the roughest match and the fastest goal.
  • Featured pairings: the most-played matches of the last seven days.
  • News feed: short news items generated automatically from the statistics (hardest shot of the week, highest player rating, streaks, rivalries).
  • Most valuable squads list.
  • Teams, Players, Matches, Statistics pages; every club has its own page with the squad, player ratings and recent matches.
  • My matches: a list of the matches a registered user has set up; a community that grows by invitation.

Key solutions

An engine that checks itself

The news feed includes notes comparing the engine with real football. For example, the share of goalless matches is compared with the real-world figure, and the site openly says the engine was tuned accordingly. It's a nice example of a simulation being honest about its own limits.

Content generated from data

Statistics build up for every match, player and club, and short, readable news sentences are generated from that data automatically. On club pages, the number of matches and goals scored and conceded also flow into the meta description.

A clean structure for search engines

The sitemap is split into separate parts for static pages, teams, players and matches; the teams section lists 164 club URLs (September 2026). Club pages carry SportsTeam schema, and the home page carries WebSite and Organization schema.

Clear disclaimers

The site states that player skill scores are not real ratings but are generated by an algorithm from market value, age, height and position, and that crests and colors are stylized. Users are asked to report incorrect squad information.

What we learned from this project

  • Presented well, data becomes a story. Raw statistics are dull; "hardest shot of the week" gets read.
  • Stating a simulation's limits builds trust. Notes comparing the engine with reality show users how it works.
  • Big data needs an organized sitemap. Thousands of match and player pages stay manageable with sitemaps split into parts.

The data processing and automatic content generation methods we used here also shape our reporting and dashboard projects. Related services: custom software, ERP and reporting, SEO and GEO. Other personal projects: Mutfaksim and Tiecho.

Are the matches on ArenaSim real?

No. The squads are real, the matches are simulated. The engine is tuned against real football statistics.

Where do the player scores come from?

As the site explains, the scores are not real ratings; they are generated by an algorithm from market value, age, height and position data.

Can automatic reports or news be generated from our own data?

Yes. We can apply the approach behind ArenaSim to business data and generate automatic summaries and reports; you can tell us what you need on our contact page.
