Why the same day?
Reporting projects drag on for three reasons: setting up a separate server and data warehouse, copying data into it, and writing reports from scratch. READERP needs none of these. Data isn't copied; it is read where it lives. Reports aren't written from scratch; they come from a ready-made catalog validated on real data. An existing machine inside your company is enough as a server.
That is why same-day setup isn't a marketing line but a natural result of the architecture.
Setup in three steps
1. We install the agent
A small agent program is installed on a server in your company network, or on a computer that stays on. The agent needs to sit somewhere that can reach your ERP database. Because it opens the connection outward itself, no port is opened in your firewall. The only thing we ask of your IT team is a database user with read-only permissions.
2. We discover your schema
Every ERP installation is different. Which database holds which year, which tables contain data, in which currency and how amounts are stored, which companies share the same database — all of this is established by measuring, not by guessing. Mapping databases spread across years is part of this step; details are on the fiscal-period merging page.
Next, the queries in the catalog are validated on your installation. Any cases where a query doesn't give meaningful results on your data come to light at this step and are stated clearly in the report.
3. Reports start flowing
The first reports land in the panel the same day: cash, receivables, revenue, stock, payroll, cash conversion cycle. Scheduled reports start arriving at your email address and note what has changed since the previous send.
What's needed on setup day?
- A server or computer that can reach the ERP database over the network
- A database user with read-only permissions
- A short working session with your IT lead (over a remote connection)
- A list of who will see reports, and for which companies
Setup is done remotely; the first conversation is by phone, and once work begins we continue with online meetings if needed.
Nothing is added to your ERP
Setup stays outside the ERP. No module, table, field or trigger is added to your ERP, and existing records are not touched. Your ERP vendor's updates are never delayed because of READERP. For details on the security side, see the read-only and security page.
After setup
The catalog keeps growing after setup. As new reports are added, they are validated on your installation and switched on. If you need reports specific to your company, they are added as custom financial reports. We describe our general approach on our ERP reporting service page.
Frequently asked questions
Does a team need to come to our office for setup?
No. Setup is done remotely; we work through it together with your IT lead over screen sharing.
What if our ERP runs in the cloud?
If there is a point from which the agent can reach the database, setup is possible. We review your hosting setup together on the initial call.
Can we see whether READERP is useful to us before setup?
Yes. Send us the questions you can't get answers to today; we'll assess in writing, without any installation, whether the existing reports can answer them. Contact.
